⚠️ Important Update for Travelers in South Korea: As of March 29, 2024, under the Act on the Promotion of Resource Saving and Recycling (Resource Recycling Act), hotels and accommodations with 50 rooms or more are no longer allowed to provide complimentary single-use items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and razors.

This means that no matter which hotel you stay at in South Korea, you must bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and razor, or purchase them as paid items at the hotel. Alternatively, these essentials can also be conveniently bought at nearby convenience stores or retail shops.

This update is crucial for anyone planning to travel in South Korea or stay at hotels, helping you avoid unexpected fees or inconveniences during your trip.

Don’t worry—essential in-room amenities such as disposable slippers, refillable shampoo, body wash, and body lotion, along with facial tissues, toilet paper, cotton swabs, cotton pads, and combs, are provided free of charge for all guests.

After completing check-in at the 1st-floor front desk of Lotte City Hotel Guro, guests take the elevator to the floor of their assigned room. I was assigned room 1812, a Superior Double Motion Relax Room. On the 18th floor, there are 15 Superior rooms, numbered 1806 to 1820. Guests have access to a total of four elevators and two emergency staircases. The hallway is carpeted with high-quality material to minimize footstep noise.

The room entrance is equipped with an electronic door lock. To unlock, simply tap the RFID room key on the sensor located above the doorknob. Then, push the door inward while holding the tubular lever down to open it. At check-in, two room key cards are provided together in a single paper sleeve. If both cards remain stacked, the RFID will not register. Make sure to separate and use only one card at a time. The same applies when using the elevators.

Once you enter the room, the first step is to insert one of your room key cards into the wall-mounted Keycard Holder (Energy Saver). This automatically activates power to the room, including lights, outlets, and the air conditioner. This system is commonly used in business hotels worldwide.

Standing at the room entrance and looking inside, you first see a narrow corridor with the closet on the left and the bathroom on the right, leading to the bedroom and the window beyond.

The closet has five doors in total. The far-left compartment houses the electrical panel, the middle section contains a mini safe and a protective mask for fire emergencies, and the far-right section is the main closet. Inside, you’ll find 10 spacious hangers, two bathrobes, two pairs of disposable slippers, a shoehorn, and a fire extinguisher.

Opposite the closet, on the wall where the bathroom is located, there is a large full-length mirror. The bathroom door is a wooden sliding type that opens easily by pulling the handle and sliding it to the left.

Inside the bathroom, a large makeup mirror and sink are positioned directly ahead. To the right of the sink is the toilet with an installed bidet, and to the left is the shower stall, forming a simple and functional layout.

The toilet is a TOTO model, and the bidet is a Novita BD-KA570/N. It features washing, drying, automatic nozzle cleaning, heated seat, and adjustable warm water temperature, all controlled via intuitive buttons for easy use. Novita, founded in Korea in 1984, was acquired by the American company Kohler in 2012.

The sink is spacious and clean, and basic toiletries such as a shower cap, comb, and toothbrush cup are provided free of charge. Towels include two medium, two large, and one foot towel, with additional towels available upon request.

The hairdryer is located inside the drawer to the right of the sink. It is a foldable-handle model, the Patech PD-T1607, from Patech, a South Korean personal care electronics brand under Hanil Electronics. This hairdryer features a 1.8-meter-long cord, weighs just 292 grams—light enough to avoid wrist fatigue—and delivers a stronger airflow compared to other 1600W hairdryers of the same class, concentrating power through its nozzle for efficient drying. Watching my girlfriend use it, I noticed that it dries wet hair quickly without causing damage to the hair’s texture.

The shower booth features a glass door that swings inward and is spacious enough for two adults to shower comfortably at the same time. In addition to the wall-mounted shower fixtures, there is a ceiling-mounted shower head for a fast and refreshing shower experience.

Inside the booth, a retractable clothesline is installed on the wall. By pulling the wire from the left and hooking it to the right, you instantly create a clothesline, ideal for drying lightweight laundry such as underwear, socks, handkerchiefs, or damp jackets.

All bathroom amenities—shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash, and body lotion—are provided in refillable dispenser bottles and belong to the “Well-Being” line from Davines, a professional haircare brand founded in Parma, Italy. The Davines Well-Being line is mild yet effective, offering good cleansing and pleasant fragrance without irritation. Among them, the shampoo stands out for its quality. Although Davines isn’t widely known to the general public, it is a brand highly recommended by professionals, and individual products can be quite expensive if purchased retail.

Personally, I’ve been using the Davines Energizing Shampoo consistently for three years on the recommendation of my hair stylist—it’s a premium caffeine-infused shampoo that revitalizes both scalp and hair, delivering excellent results.

The bedroom features a straightforward layout divided into a bed area and a desk area. When lying on the bed, your view faces the wall equipped with a 65-inch smart TV, compatible with Netflix and other OTT services. Along the same wall, there’s a long desk that integrates a luggage bench for small suitcases, drawers, and a storage cabinet as a single furniture unit. Inside the cabinet, you’ll find a mini fridge and an electric kettle. The desk area also includes a dedicated power outlet, making it convenient for laptop work or other tasks.

Along the window side of the bedroom, a side table and chair are positioned, making it a cozy spot for reading or enjoying a quick tea break. The window offers a city view of the Guro Digital Complex and can be opened for ventilation, keeping the room fresh and airy. Note that the curtains at the window are not completely blackout, so some light may filter through.

The bed in the Superior Double Motion Relax Room is a Simmons N32 motion bed with a foam mattress that can be adjusted using a wireless remote for various positions, including upper and lower body incline. The bed is exceptionally soft and comfortable—once you lie down, it’s hard to get up. Instructions for using the motion bed remote are provided on a guide placed on the bedside table.

The bedding is made of high-quality cotton, very clean and soft, with pillows that are especially plush, allowing for deep and restful sleep. Note that the foam mattress retains body heat, making it very warm and cozy in winter, but in summer it may feel slightly warm if the air conditioner is not used. This bed is ideal for those who prefer a warm sleeping environment, while guests who usually sleep cooler may find it a bit warm.

The air purifier and humidifier were provided upon request and are complimentary for the duration of the stay. After check-in, a hotel staff member personally brought them to the room and set them up.

The air purifier is an LG PuriCare AS111VAS, highly effective at removing ultrafine dust and odors. The humidifier is a Wonders Living Mist King WH550, featuring a 5.5L large-capacity water tank that allows for up to 55 hours of continuous use on a single fill, with automatic humidity control for convenient operation.

    💡 Pro Tip:
    • For a smooth check-in, separate your RFID key cards before using elevators or the room lock.
    • Place the key card in the wall-mounted holder to instantly activate all room electronics.
    • Use the in-room humidifier and LG air purifier for optimal comfort during your stay.
    • The motion bed’s wireless remote allows personalized sleeping positions—perfect for ultimate relaxation.
    • For laundry, utilize the 24-hour coin laundry and microwave on the 4th floor for convenience.
    • To capture the best city view, request a higher-floor room overlooking the Guro Digital Complex.
